In recent years, the Facebook profiles of dead users have found new roles as mourning artifacts amongst friends of the departed . But might they be used for more?
These afterlife avatars have begun to interact with social algorithms intended for the living, and hinted at a haunting future in which deceased humans find extended life through highly sophisticated Facebook profiles. What if singularity, the evolutionary moment when human intelligence is transferred to machines, first occurs in social media circles around mourning?
