My interpretation of the classic holiday film, ‘Home Alone,’ starring Macaulay Culkin. The credits try to get into the house just as the bumbling thieves try to break into Kevin’s home. Music and visuals by Max Batt.

ENVOY

Video

Envoy is a fantasy service that uses Facebook histories to reanimate the deceased. It was developed as a thesis project at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Although satyrical, Envoy was released under the auspices of a real service. It confounded the blogosphere as plausibly legitimate, prompting intrigue and debate that continue to this day.

In recent years, the Facebook profiles of deceased users have begun to interact with social algorithms intended for the living, and hinted at the possibility of new forms of life after death.
By creating, and publishing, a fictional service called Envoy that pushes these notions to the extreme, I have challenged the public to accept this as current reality?thereby forcing them to consider these contemporary issues in serious ways.
Envoy focuses on the specific issues of death and digital legacy, but it is also a parable on the creeping presence of technology into every last chamber of the human experience.

The school 2011 holiday card for CCA. The holiday season had come to involve so many days that could never be singled out for recognition, so this card lists, in a fun and celebratory manor, nearly fifty winter holidays from a myriad of heritages and creeds. In line with the school’s push to celebrate diversity.

A THING CALLED LOVE

poster series

A poster series for an objectum sexual meet up. Objectum sexuals are romantically oriented towards inanimate objects. They commonly say that their relationships are like human-human relationships, but ‘different’ in appearance. As such, these posters show a series of incomplete hearts fashioned out of the names of prominent objectum sexuals, and the name of their partnered objects. Only when overlaid on eachother, as a a community, do these posters form a complete heart.

Website for James and the Giant Cupcake, the East Bay’s most fabulous cupcakery. The site makes use of whimsical imagery and colors, and playful typography in order to reflect the business mission of recapturing child-like wonder through cupcakes. Features: live flavor calendar, online ordering section, image gallery, menu.

The definitive 2010 healthcare reform infographic, with news media, geography, politics, and income. Top name indicates a metro area along with the editorial stance of its largest newspaper. This connects to its component legislative destricts, with the congressional representatives shown by party and vote. All is arranged horizontally along a political PVI Index. Below the PVI lies the district median household income.

Black History month 2010 was a special time. Here I used the language of African American quilting to patch piece of living history of prominent black Americans, looking alternately to the right and left in their totem pole like arrangement. The dot patterning lends an archival, historic air, with our president at the base, looking to the future.
